alpha camp logistics

SIZE - "Camp" is a bit of a misnomer, as Alpha Camp serves in size and function closer to the likes of a small town. The camp stretches a 10 mile diameter, enclosed by a perimeter fence and divided into five sectors for ease of navigation.

● SECTORS - The camp is divided into five sectors for ease of navigation. The sectors run North to South with another sector located in the very center. (More information about sectors is found below.)

● SECURITY - Alpha Camp is outfitted with a redundant security system:
●● Electrified fences: The fences circle the camp, standing 20 feet tall with barbed wire at the top. A crisscross of electrified "bird wire" covers the top of the camp to discourage winged "guests" from stopping by. Nothing with a wingspan of over 8 feet can land (or leave) the camp via flight.

●● "Alpha Creek": Jokingly dubbed a creek by the soldiers, this is actually a moat that circles the camp perimeter, just outside of the electric fence. The moat is 30 feet wide and 30 feet deep. The only way to cross the moat is a narrow rope bridge that has to be extended and then retracted with each cross.

●● Motion Sensors: Motion sensors are located every ten feet around the fence and can recognize movement from something as large as a brachiosaur to something as slight as a rodent. Whenever something larger than 10 feet come within 10 yards of the fence, an alarm sounds.

●● Video Surveillance: Video cameras are housed along with the motion sensors that are positioned every 10 feet around the camp. A small trailer in Zero Sector houses all feeds.

sectors

Alpha Camp, as mentioned already, is divided into five sectors.

● SECTORS NORTH AND SOUTH - These are the housing sectors where all residents of Alpha Camp reside. There are 20 "trailers" located within each sector - 10 for newcomers and 10 for military personnel. The civilian trailers are separate from the military ones. Every two trailers, a snack cart can be found where vendor sells ala carte snack items and non-alcoholic beverages.

● SECTOR EAST - The agriculture and food sector. This is where food is grown and served within Alpha Camp.
●● Agriculture Area: East Sector is mostly comprised of long rows of massive greenhouses. Inside each air-sealed house is where crops are grown. There are a couple of large warehouse-type prefab buildings where cattle and chickens are raised.

●● Mess Halls: Dining trailers located in the East Sector. Open 24/7 and serve a variety of foods (just about anything you can think of). Behind the central dining trailer is a "Blood Bank", where vampires, etc. can go to pick up their "food".

● SECTOR WEST - The entertainment and health sector. This is where all leisure activities are held as well as where you'll go for treatment of any injury/illness.
●● Hospital: The hospital is a massive trailer located in the West Sector. There are a handful of operating rooms with state-of-the-art field equipment (though not as advanced or sterile as an actual hospital would be). (NOTE! Infection is a common side effect of visiting the hospital with any serious wounds.)

●● Pool Hall: One trailer is lined with a handful of pool tables, along with air hockey tables, ping pong tables, dartboards, and round tables of playing things like poker.

●● Gaming: Another trailer is outfitted with various gaming systems and an endless array of games for those systems.

●● Library: The first trailer you come to in the West Sector, beyond the hospital, is the library. While not heavily extensive, it does hold dozens of books from whatever subject you might need.

●● Gym: The last trailer is the trailer outfitted for exercising. Inside is a state-of-the-art work out area with weight benches, cardio machinery, and more.

●● Courts: Beyond the trailers, you’ll find a tennis court, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. Balls are housed in the Gym trailer.

●● Swimming Pool: Finally, beyond the courts, there is an Olympic-sized, above-ground swimming pool. The water is only five-feet deep at its deepest end, tapering to a 3-foot shallow end.

● ZERO SECTOR - This sector houses all maintenance and weaponry systems.
●● Armory: Located in Zero Sector, a wide trailer houses an array of weaponry suited for combating any outside forces the camp might encounter. There are nerve-gas grenades, flame-throwers, and cattle prods, as well as a variety of guns. (NOTE! There are no bullets. All guns and weapons within the camp are outfitted with darts. The standard is a tranquilizers. Locked away from general reach are the lethal darts, which are outfitted with a neurotoxin that kills instantly. i.e. Be careful: you'll be dead before you realized you had an accident.)

●● Maintenance: All house-keeping and technological devices are housed in trailers located in Zero Sector. A trailer houses all intranet servers, another houses all security equipment, another for electricity, etc.

technology

● WIRELESS INTRANET - The laptops characters are outfitted with are all connected via a wireless intranet system set up within the camp. The servers are located in the tech trailer in Zero Sector. The wireless extends 100 yards beyond the camp perimeter, but any further and the laptops and phones won't be able to pick up the signal.

● PHONE TOWER - The smartphones all characters are given work thanks to the tower that has been erected in the center of the camp. The tower provides a signal in a 5 mile radius of the camp - they won't work beyond that point.

● SECURITY IDS - Upon arrival, characters are subjected to having a photograph taken and they are given an ID. The IDs must be swiped in order to get inside any building within the camp and they're also necessary to leave and re-enter the camp perimeter. They're similar in shape and look to a college ID, bearing the character's name and photograph.

● GPS - All laptops, smartphones, and security IDs are fitted with GPS microchips. They can be remotely activated when a character has gone missing or when an ID, laptop, or phone has gone missing or is stolen. There is a tower in the center of the camp that helps triangulate the GPS signal.
